Lisa: Hi, welcome to Rview podcast and we are here on the road today traveling, and I’m lucky enough to have my daughter Lauren with me and her friend Blakelyn. They drove all the way in from the University of South Carolina to join us fo Mardir Gras down here in New Orleans. Say hello, girls.

So, I was telling them about all of the stuff that happened to us. That we talked about in our last podcast. About Mercury Retrograde. Just all these crazy little things that are going wrong and apparently it’s passed on. Tell us what happened to you today, Lauren.

Lauren:
So basically, we were just enjoying our time. We were waiting for a parade to come, and I just checked my phone and not even two minutes later, I went to look in my pocket and it was gone.

So we tried to track it and look for it, and we couldn’t find it, and they turned it off. But I had tried to retrace my steps a little bit, and I have remembered some person with a drink cart and this one random guy who looked foreign to me.

So my thought process was like, Oh, maybe he just can’t speak English or something and he just kept pointing at the beer in the cart. and didn’t say a word, just kept pointing at it. And the person that had the car, it was like, Do you want this one? Do you want this one? And he just kept on pointing. It was right in front of me and I was sitting there just watching what was going on.

And right after that, I checked my pocket and my phone was gone. And that had only dawned on me. Of course, like five minutes after I realized it was gone, I realized that that is definitely when it got stolen. So one of the biggest things that everybody had told me when we were going is that pickpockets are really bad, be careful, you could get yourself taken and it was one of those situations where you’re like, Oh, this won’t happen to me.

And I knew the second I checked my pocket wasn’t there. Like it was gone. So it was definitely a little bit of a Debbie Downer.

Lisa:
But it was a learning experience, but also working the retrograde and
Electronic forces taking things away from us and our travel plans.
Thankfully your credit card and your ID wasn’t in there.

Lauren:
Yeah! So Blakelyn actually suggested. Hey, I think you should take your ID and your credit cards out just in case. She was like, I think you should probably take amount, because, I mean, if my phone got stolen everything got stolen.

So it made more sense. And thankfully, I had taken them out. So all they got away with was my phone and my favorite phone case. Which I am really mad about. I mean, they’re replaceable so at least nothing valuables and there didn’t get any money or my cards or ideas or anything, which is good. It definitely could have been worse.

Lisa:
So, George actually got the power working on back on the RV today. So just when we thought that maybe things were going positive for us on this phone got stolen So it’s like dance. We’re still dragged down. I think we had a great day though in general. Tell us what your favorites things have been so far because it’s not over yet. We have a big day tomorrow out of us for parades and stuff like that. But so far, what’s been the most fun things about Mardi Gras to you? You go first. Lauren.

Lauren:
Well, we had a really good day today. It was nice to just walk around and look at all the shops and sightseeing stuff, and we want that one shop. I’m not really sure what what was the name? I’m not really sure that I’m not sure what the name was.

But it was a really cool shop and have really cheap earrings and accessories, and we got a lot of stuff there, and I was really happy with my purchases, and we got to walk around and see some really cool places today. But Bourbon Street Thursday night was a totally cool experience, and it’s just so fun, like the atmosphere’s so fun and uplifting, and it’s hard to choose a favorite but I definitely thought Bourbon Street was something I’ll always remember.

Lisa:
How about you? Blakelyn?

Blakelyn:
I really liked just seeing the local parts of cities and seeing the just the shops, and there’s so much to see and just walking around like the outskirts you normally wouldn’t go. And there’s just so much like it’s so beautiful there.

Lisa:
So , Tell us about what you have done today, You see?

Blakelyn:
Oh, yeah, I e got my Terek are reading done. So I’ve always wanted to do that. And I saw a woman on the side of the street and I was like, This is the chance to do it.

Lauren:
She had talked about wanting to get the cards, and then we had just walked through the through the war like stuff. Really cool artwork you picked up

Blakelyn:
There’s, like, a whole alleyway with our work and just like a bunch of different paintings from artist. And we’re just so cool and then so little painting.

Lisa:
So, what did the card lady tell you?

Blakelyn:
Well, I’m gonna get married when I’m 25. I have two kids. Apparently, I’m gonna pretty much be rich.

Lauren:
She can’t talk about money. Like for six months

Blakelyn:
I won’t be hustling, though. Apparently,

Lauren:
yeah. We have to work hard to get the money or you won’t get the money

Blakelyn:
Yeah, I mean, it was pretty good. Nothing was really bad. Just pretty much just that.

Lisa:
And then we went to Cafe du Monde and, uh, menu is hot chocolate, which, if you don’t know of any, these are They’re like, little fried pieces of dough. Kind of like it’s like a funnel cake. It’s almost like a doughnut with a lot, a lot of powdered sugar. And during the day, there’s a line probably at least 30 minutes long, even just to get him to go. If the place is packed on all they sell, there is been yays hot chocolate coffee, water. You know, basically, that’s it. They only take cash like this has gotta be the biggest of money laundering I mean, that place is packed. They must make a killing selling fried dough covered in powdered sugar.

Lauren:
Oh, no. I wish I could do it. I mean, it looks so easy in just such a simple thing to make. And they make it so fast when we actually got to watch them do it, which was really cool and make it.

But it’s literally a funnel cake, but in a square, that’s literally all good. That’s what I throw it in the fryer. Yeah, they’re good. But I wouldn’t wait an hour for him. Definitely not.

Lisa:
So we went earlier, and realized we didn’t have any cash. So then we went to dinner tonight. And after dinner, like, Oh, let’s go get some venues for dessert. So we did that. There was nobody there. Like what time was that? Probably nine. Yeah. Yeah, that was cool. So that’s a good time to go if you’re traveling to New Orleans.

Lauren:
So basically, we went to brunch out of place. Okay? Basically, we went to this place and you have to sit at the bar. Guess you had to have a reservation for an actual table. So we sat down and we ordered food, and the bartender person was just really rude. Probably want a part of the mercury thing more like he was just not uplifting. He made the experience really weird.

Blakelyn
Spinach Crab omelette 10 out of 10 though.

Lauren:
I think it’s called Kingfish Cafe. Yeah, something like that. But the food was really cool. It was It was That was really good thing. The atmosphere was really cool, but this bartender was just so bringing me down. Then I got my phone stolen and we went to dinner I don’t remember what it was called, but we went to dinner tonight at a place, and it was really good. We had a really good server, totally helped make the night better after Mercury hitting us as hard as it could. And it was just one thing after another and after another, and yeah.

Lisa:
Well, ladies, I’m glad you’re enjoying this first half of Mardi Gras. I’m sure we can have lots worse stories to tell on her next week’s podcast. But meanwhile, thanks for joining me. And we’ll post pictures on her Instagram Rview podcast on Instagram and Rview from the road on George’s Instagram and you can follow Lauren and Blakelyn as well, other involve yon there. So say goodbye girls. Hey, don’t let Mercury retrograde got you down. I think we have to, like march 9th until those passes Don’t just google it. Just Google. Google it. Yeah, if you don’t know what it is, just all right. Have a great day. Thanks, guys. We’ll see you soon.
