Lisa RichartHernandez
Hi, welcome back to RView Podcast. I’m Lisa RichartHernandez.

George
And I’m George Hernandez.

Lisa RichartHernandez
And today we’re going to tell you all about our second trip to Nashville that we took with our daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday. And all about her upcoming travel plans. We got a full schedule booked up for the summer and looking for some advice on some of those things. So let’s why don’t we just dive into Nashville again?

George
Yes, Nashville again with to 21 year olds. It was a blast, I will say but man, my liver light was blinking.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, that’s for sure. So my daughter turned 21 on March 17. She’s St. Patrick’s Day baby, my oldest daughter. And when I went to Nashville over Christmas, I kept saying to George, oh my gosh, this is Lauren’s town. She’s gonna love this place. With all the live music and everything going on. I just can’t wait to bring her here when she turns 21. And so we waited a couple of weeks after she turned 21 so she could bring her friend Sophia with her and the two newly 21 year old girls we flew them in because they have a direct flight from Charlotte, North Carolina to Nashville. And we stayed at a different place. This time we stayed at the Nashville RV Resort in cabins, which is kind of like right next door to the Nashville K away and a great location. The people were super nice.

George
They were very accommodating. We had a little issue with getting our RV leveled. In our first spot was just a little bit off center. And they were very accommodating. They found this another spot and we were able to level and start the party. And it was a great location. Again, very convenient to downtown easy Uber ride. They did have shuttles there, the shuttles charge $10 A person

Lisa RichartHernandez
and they ran till like 130 in the morning, we’d never use that because there was four of us it was a little bit less expensive to take an Uber.

George
Yeah. And we never had an issue grabbing an Uber. So

Lisa RichartHernandez
yeah, Ubers were really easy to get maybe we waited like five to 10 minutes for each Uber. I mean, we did that both ways there and back. It’s just not worth it to drive to Broadway and try to park your car regardless of whether or not you’re drinking or anything. Parking gets to be super expensive. Last time we were there. I think we paid like $45 to park for three hours.

George
Yeah, they they got us because the science had $15 to park. And so we went in and it was $15 for the first hour. And then it was like $25 Every additional hour. It was just it was crazy and just Uber’s so much cheaper. We did get a great tip from one of the Uber drivers which was when you call for the Uber to come pick you up from Broadway. Get on one of the streets that has a number. So like 20th Street 21st 22nd Whatever number just find a street that runs across Broadway, but it has a number and it’s a lot easier for the Uber drivers to pick you up on those streets.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, that’s a great tip. That’s a great tip. I don’t know what number street we went on. But every time there was there was this Greek food truck that was open late at night that had the best Euro fries, Brad

George
Oh that I think that late at night. Anything’s really good. But they were they were good. Just put it this way. We went back every night.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yes. Yes. Food Truck. Yum. Yeah. So we we drove in. We went down to Hilton Head Island motorcoach resort. We spent some time there as you know, we own a place down there. It’s our kind of home base. We love it there. Got to spend a little bit more time with our friends and I had some business to do there. We also sell real estate in the resort. So hit two birds with one stone that to see some friends. It was nice. And then George and I drove up on Thursday. I think it took us about eight hours from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina to Nashville, Tennessee. Yeah, it

George
was right at about eight and a half hours. GPS had nine but we only stopped for gas was about eight and a half hours. Easy drive. There was a little construction on I think it was I 40 We had to get off the highway and get back on that was a little bit of a came but no big deal.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, no major traffic delays. So that was great. So we got in Thursday, Thursday night, we went to our local, close to the resort favorite place to go into the scoreboard. And this time we went to the Music City, which was also right next to the scoreboard. And they had live music and they were really good live music.

George
But well, where don’t they have really good

Lisa RichartHernandez
luck? I know. It’s like saying that everywhere you go, the food was just, there was a very limited menu there. So we did end up eating going over to the scoreboard next door a little bit later and getting some more food.

George
Yeah, but music hall was awesome. The drinks are great. The music was fantastic. Got

Lisa RichartHernandez
really filled up in there and people were dancing around. And yeah, it was it was a lot of fun. And we were supposed to be like taking it easy that night. So we did kind of get home fairly early and got a good night’s sleep. And then the girls arrived at like one o’clock on Friday. So I made an early dinner reservation. I call that linor sort of between lunch and dinner at 315. And it was a recommendation from a friend, which is a Justin Timberlake restaurant. It’s called the 1230 club. It’s on right on Broadway. It’s a three story type of a restaurant, that I think there’s a rooftop bar there. That’s really beautiful. So it’s supper club. And then like on the main level is the

George
I can’t remember right now whether it was three floors or four but on the ground floor is the restaurant with a little stage which we watched the band and the food was very good. Then there was a second floor which I believe is members only they’ve got some weird members only exclusive kind of thing going. And then the third floor was his really cool jazz bar with supper club with supper club here. Yeah, it was really fancy it had the red velvet seats and and then that led out to the outdoor patio, which was really nice. Yeah, it

Lisa RichartHernandez
was really pretty outdoor patio. It’s new. You can you know obviously see all the way down Broadway. Great craft cocktails. For for the food was incredible. We all loved our meal there.

George
Yeah. I was very surprised.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah. You know, I was just looking it up on Google reviews and and how like a three something and normally I won’t go to a restaurant, unless it’s over four and a half. So I haven’t had a chance to research why but our food there was excellent. I think you had a roast beef. Like it was almost like it was a prime rib sandwich. That was like a French dip. Yeah, the girls. I think they shared a burger. And I can’t remember I think oh, did I have the salmon?

George
Yes. I think you did all the brussels

Lisa RichartHernandez
sprouts. There were probably you’ll hear me always talk about spreads everywhere we go. Because I’m a Brussels broke Conners kind of sewer. But I think those are the best brussel sprouts I’ve ever had in my life.

George
You did say that that that day. Yeah. Everybody read with your brussels sprouts guy.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah. Everybody loved that. So that was good.

George
service was great. It Yeah, it is weird that the you know, with any new restaurant, I guess it’s tough because people, people just so critical about Yeah, dumb stuff.

Lisa RichartHernandez
But I mean, our service was good. It could be a little bit loud down down there on that first floor. I would say there wasn’t a lot of

George
but it’s music. They’re all loud. Right? You know what I mean? It’s it. If that’s what the critique is? That’s sad. I mean, right. There’s music everywhere. It’s loud music everywhere. And unless you go to a restaurant that crack, you know, like, when we went to Eddie V’s, that was a beautiful restaurant, there was no music, there was music, but it was Delhi.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Right, right. So if you’re looking to go for a conversation, you know, maybe that’s not your Top Plays, but the rooftop was awesome. I

George
would say 90% of the places on Broadway are not the place to go through the first day. Try to talk. Right. Okay, fair enough. If you don’t want to talk to your first date, great place to go. Yeah.

Lisa RichartHernandez
So we went there. And then the girls, I mean, they were so thrilled the food was excellent. And then we went up to the rooftop and had cocktails. And I mean, just the look on the girls faces when we got out of the Uber and we stepped onto Broadway where they were just like, oh my gosh, this is amazing. And it was like seeing your little kids when they go to Disney for the first time. You know, and so having the grown kids be so excited about it just in the joy and how much fun that they had. That is truly what made it like even such an even more amazing experience that we got to share with them. Yeah, they didn’t know where to go first. And they were just so happy and thankful everywhere. So we literally just started bar hopping walking.

George
But I’ll say I’m glad we went to timber lakes first because we went up on the rooftop and they got a bird’s eye view of Broadway. They I was really surprised that how many rooftop bars there are now. I think the first time we went maybe it was winter. Maybe they weren’t open or whatever, but I don’t remember are like seeing so many people on roofs. I mean, there’s got to be at least 10 rooftop bar. Oh

Lisa RichartHernandez
my god. Yeah. At least at least. And really cool rooftop bars.

George
Yes. I’m sure everybody tries out do each other to get the crowds. But every single one was jam packed.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, we took them into what was that tiny little place called neck Riviera? No it was before that where we all oh my god yeah crammed in this tiny bar. I don’t

George
I don’t remember but I was getting claustrophobic in there I had to, I was ready to run out.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Well, it was so crowded in there. And they’re like, Yeah, squeeze more people in and they were like people drink and Pabst Blue Ribbon kind of a place. And the singers are up on stage, sort of above the heads of everyone. And then they were just finishing their set. And the whole entire bar sang the national anthem. And there was a flag in there. It was so cool, and so patriotic. And it was like, one of those moments that everyone like, I don’t know, just kind of came together in this huge, like crowded packed bar. And it was really just a awesome experience. And the girls really loved that too.

George
Yeah. And in their defense. The reason that Well, I’m sure it gets JAM PACKED anyway, because it’s really small, but their rooftop. They were having some issues and it was closed. So it was a bunch of people coming in and like filing for the stairs that go upstairs. And then they were turned around because the rooftop was closed. So it was just like this sea of people coming in going out titties, I think it was, I think you might see as

Lisa RichartHernandez
tootsies is the name of it. I knew it would hit me because we’ve been there before. But so that was fun. And then, you know, we’re just sort of be bogged down, I can’t even remember, we stopped in a couple other places. And we ended up finding seat at the Redneck Riviera again, which is where we spend Christmas Day, when George and I were there and the windows are open, the band was really good. And we just ended up really enjoying the band and had had a nice table right in front. And the people were so nice. And there. We were all dancing and cutting up. And next thing you know, we looked outside in the lines for all the other bars were like,

George
while we were sitting there and said to Lisa and the girls, you gotta stay here, I don’t want to lose this seat. I’m gonna go over to kid rocks and see if I can find a spot maybe. And mind you kid rocks is five stories, including the rooftop. And they were at full capacity, which is kudos to them. So the guy turned me away said sorry, we’re at full capacity. So I went back about an hour later. And they were still a full capacity. So they are killing it at kid rocks. And I understand why that’s that is one of my favorite places to go.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, Kid rocks, I think has a band on every different level to Yes, yeah. Yes. So it was it’s a huge place, and even has a rooftop there and the rooftop Jason holdings was also a capacity there was. So thankfully, the girls said, You know what, we’re having a great time here. Like, let’s just stay here. And I loved that about traveling with them. There wasn’t this like fear of missing out, oh, let’s go wait in line here. And if I can give you any advice about about that, when you’re going to travel in Nashville, 100% eat an early dinner and definitely get a base, especially if you’re, you know, drinking and you don’t realize you’re listening to the music and you’re ordering a drink after drink. And I mean, next thing you know, you’ll have been there for 12 hours of drinking. And so you definitely want to get and I warn the girls, I was like, Listen, this is not the kind of place you’re gonna be pounding shots and stuff. This is like this is a marathon. This is not a sprint. And I was so proud of. They did great. They made it they made it out. I think we stayed till midnight and had an absolute blast. I think it was even the girls that were like, You know what, we should go home because we got a long day tomorrow. And

George
yeah, I mean, they did a great job. They paid for themselves. They listened to us and they just enjoyed themselves. They realized this is not a drink up and let’s get hammered. Because then then you you don’t remember half the night and it just takes the fun out of it. They really enjoyed it. They enjoyed the cocktails. We did too. And we had a fantastic time. Yeah, I will add to your comment about eating early. Also for the ladies and the men wear comfortable shoes, because you’re gonna be walking Oh yeah. This is just bar after bar and you want to go see them all and you’re just walking up and down Broadway and

Lisa RichartHernandez
yeah, the style for Nashville is for women. A lot of women do wear cowboy boots I work with boots one or one or one or two nights while I was there. Everybody wears tennis shoes, like really not a lot of stiletto type of looking outfits. You’re going to be mostly comfortable shoes, which is kind of the style for the younger girls anyways, like a dress with tennis shoes is fine. And jeans. For guys. I mean it’s pretty much anything goes pretty casual. There was nowhere that we really went that was it Do you ever need to be dressed up in Nashville?

George
The ATVs

Lisa RichartHernandez
went to the stakeout. You know

George
and dressed. Yeah. And you can get fully dressed up or you can go, you know, a nice casual dressy outfit, which is what? I had a nice shirt and jeans on. And that was I felt very comfortable there.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah. And in so we were there on Easter weekend. So Sunday of that weekend was Easter Sunday, which was also a spring break for a lot of people. And also the Garth Brooks sold out show was that Saturday night, and then he had a second show on Friday. So tons of people were in town for Garth Brooks. That was in then there was awesome, like a hockey game going on. And I mean, so many events. So there’s it brings so many people to that downtown area of Nashville. If you try to get a like dinner at seven o’clock, you’re not going to get in somewhere we went to so on Saturday, we said Alright, let’s get up. Get a good night’s sleep. And we’ll go back downtown. I think we were going to try to eat at Jason holdings for lunch.

George
Yeah, we couldn’t we got in. It was the way it was two hours. Our

Lisa RichartHernandez
at least two hour wait for even a table.

George
Yeah. And they they take your number and they’ll text you when your tables ready. And it was a full two hours before we got that text. And by that time we were settled down somewhere else.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, we went to this other place called the diner we decided to walk away from Broadway a little ways. I would say the view from the diner was a good view. The food to me was not really worth going back for. It wasn’t horrible. But it wasn’t. No, that wasn’t me. Yeah. I

George
mean, I just got nothing.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Again, this is like four levels to this restaurant. They had like chicken and waffles.

George
Yeah. And when you have a bar on every floor, and you make your customer go from the fourth floor to the ground floor to get a drink because they can’t make it on the fourth floor. We

Lisa RichartHernandez
want an Espresso Martini and they didn’t have espresso on the fourth floor. So down to the first we’ll

George
send somebody to get my drink. How do you send the customer down and get a drink? That was terrible on their part?

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah. So that was that was just average? I wouldn’t I wouldn’t put that on. Yeah, some places, for sure. But then we, we where do we go after after that was our lunch or dinner that day. And then we just started when I started rolling the whole entire other side of the street, which we spent about 15 hours down there again. We went we definitely went to kid rocks. And we ran into some friends on Saturday that were from Charleston. So what a small world that is. And they have their big windows. And you could see outside and you know, right next to Luke Bryan’s restaurant and we went to all the different floors. That kid rocks.

George
Yeah, I did venture up to the roof. And there’s no elevator. So you gotta go up the stairs, five floors. Yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez
I got my stepson.

George
On the roof. They actually had really good DJ that didn’t have a band. They had really it was like a nightclub up there during the day. What I would say we can Roxas if you want to sit down, just wander through all the floors and see if you can find a table because no matter what floor you’re on, the music was great.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah. And I also think that a good tip is to go early, like, go around two o’clock, because everything is packed by like 738 o’clock, that’s when the line start happening. And then if you’re not already settled into a place, that’s the other thing. Like if you find a good band that you’re enjoying, just stay

George
on a good seat to stay. Yeah, yes, we always look for either close to the band, or somewhere where we can hear the band and people watch. I sit at the bar or sit at the bar and we have not been disappointed yet. And as Lisa alluded to, before, that weekend that we were there, there was a hockey game, the concert and just people and I’ll tell you what, if you are not settled in that specially if there’s a hockey game going on if if you’re not settled in by eight o’clock, and depends on when the hockey game is I guess but when they let loose, they’re they’re coming out to drink and they’re looking for a place to sit.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, there was lines at every single bar. Oh, yeah.

George
And we had the double whammy with the concert. I mean, we were remember we were sitting at Luke Bryan’s.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, actually, when the concert started at seven was like our window of opportunity. Yes, that’s when we

George
went places. We went and found a good seat at Luke Bryan. And then when the concert was over it it just looked like a cruise ship unloaded or something to the streets were packed. And of course, they’re all looking for seats and they’re all looking for drinks and they’re all looking for food. So if you’re settled down, you’re golden.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, yeah. I actually kind of enjoyed our time at Christmas a little bit more. I mean, the amount of crowds not yes, it was way less crowded. less crowded at Christmas time probably because not as many people were going to Nashville during we were there for actual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. So the crowds were really low and we got to really kind of enjoy the the music and stuff and we sort of had free rein compared to this was packed

George
ever. Yeah, this this was a real Nashville weekend. Yeah. Yep. I think we got spoiled at Christmas. Oh, this is great. We need to come here and we can hang out wherever we want. And then we went this weekend. It was like, Oh my God.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, yeah. So keep that in mind if you’re traveling Nashville. And if you want to go, you know, if you have a restaurant in mind that you really want to go to I highly recommend making reservations a month ahead of time. If they’ll take them. Yeah, because I did have a difficulty finding a thrust reservations at the last minute. We did try a new restaurant on Easter Sunday. We were so excited to bring the girls we all got dressed up and we went to Eddie V’s which is seafood steakhouse on Broadway. It’s also seems to be fairly new to Nashville.

George
Yeah, I mean, oh, yeah. Cuz the guy said it was new. Yeah. waiter said it was fairly new. I mean, yeah, maybe a year old.

Lisa RichartHernandez
So it was an amazing meal. We ordered they have caviar there. So we ordered caviar. So the girls could try it for the very first time trying caviar. And we got oysters on the half shell and they hadn’t had Well Lauren hadn’t really had those either. They were really good oysters. Yes. Well, we’re gonna try oysters. That was a great place to try all

George
the food was very, very good. Caviar was good, nice presentation. Our drinks were incredible. They had such cool drinks. I had a smoke old fashion. And they brought out the glass full of smoke and they actually finished the drink tableside which was really cool. By the way. That drink was spot on. That was That was excellent drink. And then you had that funky,

Lisa RichartHernandez
like blue, blue diamonds martini or something. And they bring this big, gigantic blue ice cube shaped like a diamond. Yeah. And then the it’s like some sort of a grapefruit vodka or whatever. It’s sort of like pink. And then they put this purple lip blue cube in there. And it kind of makes it purpley

George
was really cool. That was weird. It was like changing colors as you as you drank it. Yeah, it

Lisa RichartHernandez
was definitely it was you know, it’s for show it was it was an experience for sure. And they brought out dessert for the girls that went in it was Bananas Foster. So they had like they found beta tableside Oh, yeah. I was like, oh my god, this is so cool. Like, they must have taken like 1000 selfies of each other during me.

George
Yeah, I know that they were enjoying it. And we appreciate that. They enjoyed it.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah. And then we did do on Sunday. We were all pretty worn out by then. We did a little bit of shopping around. But some things were closed because it was Easter Sunday. Did some more photos. And I had a pretty chill day on Sunday. Yeah, I

George
can’t remember what we did on Sunday. Besides the shopping that we just go back and chill out. No, because we didn’t really chill out. I

Lisa RichartHernandez
knew Yes, we did. And then the girls went and got Mexican that night.

George
Oh, that’s right. That’s right. Yeah, yeah, we called it an early day.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, cuz we have been. Well, we we outdid ourselves on Friday and Saturday for sure. We got

George
there before them, partied with them. And we had just come back from owners week in Hilton Head. Yeah. And before that we were aware.

Lisa RichartHernandez
We remember.

George
Boat Show. So then we do both show owners week and then. I don’t know. I thought we were somewhere else. But let’s carry on.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, yeah. I’ve been working this whole time.

George
Somebody’s got a

Lisa RichartHernandez
That’s right. That’s right. Real Estate Market is crazy, right. crazy busy right now, which is part of the reason why we haven’t had a podcast in a while because we just haven’t been able to do as much traveling as I would love to be able to do. And we’ve got the two kids. Our two youngest are seniors in high school this year. So this week, we have prom and then a couple of weeks we’ve got graduation. So we got all kinds of busy kid family mom stuff going on to

George
yes we do. And at $500 the film for the RV.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah. I mean, with the diesel prices the way they are. You are comparing our our 45 Day cross country trip we did back in 2020. And I think it was about $145.

George
So And ironically, I just took that picture. I took a picture of the gas pump and it was 88 gallons was 480 something dollars. And I decided well let me look at my records from when we did our cross country trip. And it was almost two years to the day And I found a note where I filled up 88 gallons, and it was for 88 gallons back then was $216, something like that. So it’s just Ouch, that one hurt. And that was $498. Total to Nashville and another $498. Home. That wasn’t fun.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah. So I guess, you know, it’ll be interesting to see how much of a damper that will put on travel plans. I was looking, somebody had posted an article about camping and people still intended to go camping and using their RVs. And that kind of thing. Like, basically, how would fuel prices affect you. And a lot of people said, we’ll still be doing traveling or just maybe be staying more closer to home than we normally mate.

George
And a couple people from the Hilton Head resort, you know that they travel there, they’re going to travel no matter what the gas price is. But they said they’ll they’ll just cut back somewhere else instead of going out to meals, maybe they’ll cook in more and just try to cut back and accommodate for gas prices right now until something gives. Yeah. But you know, they’re just not going to stop traveling. That’s their thing. They live in them.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, I think there’s also this like, pent up surge of people that are just like dying to get back out there and do some traveling. And it was clear. In Nashville over Easter weekend, that very few masks or scene it was very much normal.

George
Yeah. So it was nice to just be back to normal and not have to worry about mask or and any of that nonsense.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, that was good. Tell us about what we got coming up here. George, you got the list.

George
All right. And these will be all future episodes. So in May, coming up next week, we are leaving on an Alaska cruise that we’ve been trying to do. For years, we’ve been talking about doing this cruise forever. We finally booked it through carnival, they gave us an offer we just could not refuse. So we booked it and we will be leaving on the 10th through the 17th. to Alaska. Yeah, we can’t wait to tell you all about that.

Lisa RichartHernandez
We are actually traveling out of Seattle. And originally we had booked it through LA to leave out of San Francisco on a 10 day cruise. Long story short, we ended up canceling that one. But looking at the airfare it was so much more expensive to fly into San Francisco, San Francisco than it was to Seattle, interestingly, so we are going to try for the first time we booked our airline through the cruise line. So we’re flying directly there, shuttle picks us up from the airport takes us right to the cruise ship. And the same on the return. So we saved the money by not getting hotels in San Fran or I’m sorry, in Seattle, we went to Seattle on our cross country trip we spent four or five days there. We enjoyed our time, but we didn’t really feel like there was anything we wanted to go back and see that was worth spending, you know, three or $400 a night on a hotel room. And so we decided to go this route. So we’ll let you know how that all turns out. Hopefully we make the crews. Well, we fly in at like 11 in the morning.

George
I think we’ll we’ll have plenty of time. And I’m glad now reading the fine print that we did book it through carnival because if the flight is delayed due to weather or equipment, they will issue us a credit for another cruise. If we missed the cruise. They’ll try everything they can to get us there to get on the cruise. But if they can’t get us there, then they’ll issue us a credit. So that’s nice if we had booked it on our own, and we missed the cruise. Tough luck.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, so hopefully that’ll be worth it. I posted on my Facebook account questions like for going on the Alaskan cruise like tips and advice because I just have no idea what to pack. And everyone said everything from don’t forget your rain jackets, which I really am glad people said that because I truly probably wouldn’t. Have you ever thought to pack rain gear. Somebody else was said bug spray which I would never would have packed bug spray. I would have thought it’d be too cold for bugs. But I don’t know. I guess there’s bugs. And so we’ll have lots of layers and boots and hats. Were born close.

George
We’re probably going to pack way more than we ever need. But we’re just so unsure that I know I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Yeah, I

Lisa RichartHernandez
guess I guess so. So we bought binoculars. Yeah, binoculars. We have a balcony room. So a lot of people when we had talked to them before we said, you know how important is it? Like there’s one day that you’re just going through? I don’t know what they call it like the streets where there’s like all these like icebergs and stuff on either side of you. You got the shoreline and shoreline with bears and wildlife and stuff. And some people have said that that was like their favorite day on the Alaskan cruise, they just sat on their balcony all day and, you know, watched everything go by. So I’m kind of looking forward to that day and just, you know, we’ll take a

George
look forward to a lot of different things. This is going to be our first cruise that’s not going to a tropical hot Island, this is gonna be a cold cruise, right? So there’s no hanging out by the pool. Right? Alaska, which is unbelievable. A friend of mine told me that when the waters just unbelievable. And we’re one of our excursions as a helicopter ride. And they’re going to drop us off on top of a glacier and we’re going to be able to explore a little bit. And my friend said, if, you know, they’ll, I’m sure they’ll find a crack somewhere in the glaciers. And when you look down, it’s the bluest blue he’s ever seen in his life. And it’s just, it’s just beautiful.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, so I’m excited. I’m excited about that. Everyone says that, that’s one of their favorite cruises. So we’ll have all the details and tips and information about that when we return.

George
And if any of you have been on Alaska cruise, please drop us a comment. Let us know what your thoughts

Lisa RichartHernandez
were when you need things.

George
Yes. Must do or must bring. Please let us know because we are complete virgins on this one. Yeah, you

Lisa RichartHernandez
can you can reach us at our view. podcast.com We’ve got a Contact Us right on there. And he knows he gets sent right turn email. So love any tips or advice or questions or anything you want us to find out about while we’re there?

George
Yep. And I have to give a little bit of credit to carnival. They gave us an incredible offer. I think our crews worked out to $125 a person. Yes, a person. And we got plus taxes, import taxes and fondling fees and all that good stuff. But when we were first pricing them out years ago, I mean, we were in the 1000s of dollars. So we finally pulled the trigger. We just we just couldn’t pass this.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Well, that’s because George does a lot of gambling and so he gets all his gambling perks. So I think we could cruise out of Charlson for pretty much free any weekend. If anyone ever wants to cruise out of Charleston, let us know. We can go anytime. pretty much perfect.

George
Yeah, let us know. We’ll join you. And we’ll do a podcast right from the boat. Yeah, there we go. That’s one thing we should do. Maybe we’ll have a listener crew.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Well, my, my birthday is May 19. So we don’t even have anything scheduled that weekend after for the first time ever. We’ll be in town for that. So we’re kind of up in the air or maybe we’ll spend it in Hilton. I don’t know. And then for example, in front of the Yeah, so my mom is coming back. May 9. She’ll be staying with us again. So we’ll have my mom with us to do some traveling. She’s doing great. I know a lot of people ask about how my mom is doing. Yeah. So after that in May, what do we have? Kids graduation, first weekend in June? Yes.

George
All our kids will be out of high school and on to college. And we will be having we will have four kids in college at the same time in the fall. So please, Like, Share and join our podcasts.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, we might have to start a GoFundMe start monetizing this thing.

George
So excited about the kids graduating. That’s fantastic. And that will segue into a little bit later with tailgating. June we have our friends white trash party up in Virginia. We went last year and it was so much fun that we’re going again this year with the white

Lisa RichartHernandez
trash party if you don’t bring your own camper,

George
exactly. Drive the motor. Last year, I got all kinds of hell because the roof of my RV was a little dirty and they’re like, oh my god, your trash in our driveway. Like how dirty and I was like it’s a white trash party.

Lisa RichartHernandez
I gotta come up with our costumes for that. Yes,

George
I am the defending champion of last year. Yeah, first

Lisa RichartHernandez
place for my costume and how you’re gonna step it up from last year.

George
I have no idea but I’ll figure something out. So that’s pretty much June will be. That’s our big event is the white trash party, I’m sure will be going to Hilton Head I’m sure we’ll plan some weekend trips or something but nothing major. July we have. We’re gonna go up to Michigan. We haven’t been up to Michigan in the summer. Lisa has been telling me about it for years. So we’re gonna venture up that way and go up to the lake Howell area.

Lisa RichartHernandez
I think it’s like oh, I think that was the lake. There’s so many lakes in Michigan. As a matter of fact, Minnesota is the land of 10,000 Lakes because Michigan has more Believe it or not. It’s a lower lower part of Michigan and then I’d like to take half that time maybe and go up to like sleeping better sand dunes or George has never been up to Traverse City. We have some other friends that I went to high school with. Maybe stop and see them. So August is the perfect time. Time to travel to Michigan. You’ve got a better chance of getting some sunny days and warm weather. It could still be cold at night, but I think it’d be really interesting trip for George. So I have not Well, it’s been 30 years since I’ve lived in Michigan but I haven’t taken. We have a 40 foot motorcoach to Michigan, camping anywhere, and I know there’s a nice place in batasia herd. But if anyone has any really good recommendations for Michigan campgrounds, I’d like to have that info and start researching that because Michigan being such a short camping season. I’m sure all those places up there get booked up, especially if we go all the way up to like Mackinac Island. So we’ll tow the jeep and get to do some exploring. See the sand dunes and see of course, our friend, my friends from high school, which will make it even that much more exciting.

George
Yes, and I can’t wait to see Michigan in the summer. Yeah, whatever. Okay, there

Lisa RichartHernandez
are a lot of beautiful blazes enrich again, right.

George
Definitely not in. Oh, well. Let me not bash any towns. Okay, so let’s move right along. So that was Michigan. July. That was Lisa, not me. Second. Then in August, we have our first music festival the year. Is that right? Or did we just do one? Man, everything’s just running together. So August. We have a night in the country in Tryon, North Carolina, in August August 25. Through the 27th I believe

Lisa RichartHernandez
you’re supposed to have full hookups for your motorcoach there. And it looks like a beautiful facility. So we’re going with some other friends, they got tickets also in their motor coach.

George
If you’re an equestrian person, you have heard of triumph. North Carolina, they invested probably a billion dollars in this equestrian center up there, which is World rank now. People from Saudi Arabia fly their horses to try on North Carolina for competitions for events. And it is a beautiful facility. And so we’re gonna go up for night in the country, featuring Darius Rucker, John party, Dirk Bentley, who else Jimmy Allen, James Rogers, Ashley McBride. I mean, the list goes on and on and on.

Lisa RichartHernandez
It’s a three day, three days three day country camping Music Festival in August in South Carolina, are preparing for very hot, hot hot weather. So I will have to bring, see if there’s any rules against bringing in a little swimming pool. Something to cool down during the daytime because that’s how it gets can be hot.

George
My rule is it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission. But you didn’t hear that from me. But that’s we’re really looking forward to that when in August. And then September we have bourbon and beyond. It is back people. It’s back. I am so excited. It’s been years. Yeah, they

Lisa RichartHernandez
kind of shut they shut it down the last two years for bourbon and beyond. So we’re super excited to be back there. That’s where George discovered the bourbon world and loves bourbon. It’s in Louisville, Kentucky. And we’ll be camping like right in the basically the parking lot of of the event. But we’ve we’ve talked to some other of our RV friends from Hilton Head Island motorcoach resort, they’re also going but they have pets and they don’t allow pets directly at that when you’re camping it at the actual concert. So they said like it was like a mile or two down the road. There was a campground that they found and they booked that for it with full hookups and everything.

George
And I know the pet owners will hate me for this but I’m kind of glad they do that because the only reason I say that is they park you don’t have a lot of room. Right. And we are parking on asphalt at the I think it’s a Louisville fairgrounds. Yeah, so not for nothing but a you’re going to park your urine leave your dog all day while you’re at the concert in a hot asphalt. Yes, you can run your generator, there’s not room for you to leave your dog outside. There’s really no room for you to even bring your dog outside. You know, so I kind of hate that for pet owners especially if you’re living full time on your in your RV and there’s really nothing you can do with your pet. But our friends decided to just go up the street and it’s worked out for them.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah. Well we’ll see how that goes. As far as I’m I would imagine the campground would have some kind of shuttle or something or

George
Yeah, I think they said there was a shuttle and if not that. I think they looked it up already and took 10 or 15 minute Uber ride. Yeah, but the lineup for bourbon and beyond which is September 15 through the 18th is Jack White Kings of Leon, Pearl Jam. Chris Stapleton, Alanna elantas Morissette,

Lisa RichartHernandez
like Atlanta’s more set,

George
Brandi Carlile, and then there’s a new band that I’m really excited to see, I’ve heard a lot of their songs. I think they are pretty incredible for a bunch of young guys. It’s Greta Van Fleet, if you haven’t heard of them, or if you haven’t heard their music, look them up. They just remind me of a young Led Zeppelin. The lead singer is just incredible. Look them up. Doobie Brothers are going to be there. And again, the list just goes on and on and on. And it’s two stages, two main stages. So the music never stops. While one band is playing. The other one is setting up. The food vendors are incredible. And then of course, the bourbon distributors that are there. They all just try to outdo each other and the customer is the winner because it’s just such a good time. Yeah. And the last time we went to Bourbon and beyond, I kind of liked bourbon a little bit before we went. But then I got to taste really good bourbon. And that’s what changed me completely. Now. I’m just I love my bourbon. The rest is history.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, so we’ll have all the details and more tips and stuff on that after these trips. And we go right into tailgating see, well,

George
actually, that will be part of tailgating. We will be tailgating I think we lose a game for barely in Durban and beyond. So we will miss one home game for bourbon and beyond. But it’s worth it. We love that so much the first time that we we have been waiting patiently for two years praying that it would come back and we’re so happy that they decided to do it again. Yeah. And then October fantasy fest.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, I’ve got it booked again for a week down in fantasy fest. They’re always talking about shutting things down and making it more family friendly. But sounds like they talk about that like every year. So we’re just gonna go and enjoy ourselves and have a good time. Yeah, we’re just more on that when I was there. I talked

George
to our friend who has been gone for 18 years. And he said for 18 years, it’s been the same talk, same everything. And as he explained that, to me, the commission that applies, though, or the group that applies for the permit to have fantasy fest. So I guess the biggest issue is they’re trying to make a family friendly. control some of the nudity and there’s really not a lot of nudity. What Yes, there is. No there’s not nudity. People were painted. You’re not seeing, like, strip club nudity. You know, what does that make sense?

Lisa RichartHernandez
Yeah, I mean, it wasn’t like, I mean, there was a lady that was like BareNaked with a clear plastic dress on.

George
Oh, I missed that one. Why didn’t you point that out?

Lisa RichartHernandez
But people that are body painted. I mean, are I mean, basically just painted?

George
Right? But it’s, it’s not? To me. That’s, that’s yes. I know. They’re nude. But they’re, but they’re not. You know what I mean? It’s like, I got like a woman wearing a bikini that and you can argue actively, you know, I don’t know. Whatever. The group that applies for the permit has for ever they’ve never applied based on we want nudity. So nudity has never been applied for or part of it. It just happens. So he said, nothing’s going to change. They’re trying to make it more family friendly. They’ve done it in the past and every time they do it, they lose so much revenue because families just don’t really go to fantasy fest. And if they do which by mistake, right? Yeah. So hopefully nothing will change. Hopefully we’ll have a great pod.

Lisa RichartHernandez
We’ll have a great time anyways, whenever we go to Key West Bay, have fun. We need to switch things out. We need to find some new place to go that we haven’t been to yet. Even if it’s just for you know, a weekend getaway or something. It’s hard to leave Hilton Head because it’s such a great place. I mean, you really can’t be saying down there with all the restaurants and beach and things to do but

George
let’s let’s do this. Let’s put out a call to action to our listeners. If you know of something Music Festival, an event or just a beautiful place that we should go visit that we can talk about and be like.

Lisa RichartHernandez
Wow, that was the greatest suggestion ever, please, please email us. Drop us a line. Tell us a little bit about it. Tell us, give us a day Rviewpodcast It’s RView podcast.com.

We don’t want to talk to you guys about the same thing over and over. And so give us some ideas. And we’re gonna look for some new stuff, too. I wouldn’t mind going to solani We’ve never talked about Swanee. Or if we have it was two years ago. God have we been doing this this long?

Lisa RichartHernandez
Maybe? Wow. Before COVID? Yeah. Oh, yeah. As a matter of fact, we had just started a podcast in 2020. Yeah. And we went to a podcasting conference, and then everything shut down in March of 2020.

George
So we know there’s a big, beautiful country out there, give us some suggestions, we will be more than happy to go and check it out. Yep. And the crazier the better.
